The brave four-year-old, who is battling a rare cancer, won the hearts of the nation after the song Tiny Dancer was recorded to raise funds for her treatment.
And last night her overjoyed mum Judith Sibley told how the support of Irish Sun readers, and the entire nation, has given little Lily-Mae the strength to go on.
Dedicated Judith said: “We still have a long way to go, but we will continue to fight for Lily-Mae every step of the way.
“We will never give up, and for the readers of the Irish Sun to vote her their Person of the Year, it’s such a boost to all of us.
“The support from the Irish nation has meant so much. We have a tough few months ahead, but we know we have a lot of people behind us.
“We’d just like to say thank you to everyone who voted for Lily-Mae, it really has touched us so much.
“She’s an amazing little girl, at this stage she belongs to the whole country. It’s been absolutely overwhelming for us.”
